Kendrys Morales continues recovery, will play in Cactus League games
According to the LA Times, Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia announced on Sunday that Kendrys Morales will play in his first Cactus League game on Tuesday.
Morales missed most of 2010 and all of 2011 after breaking his ankle during a celebration at home plate after hitting a walk off home run.
Said the report:
Scioscia is aiming for Morales, who took a rainy Sunday off after playing in minor league games Friday and Saturday, to get 40 to 50 at-bats before the Angels’ opener April 6.
Morales has nine at-bats. He was a combined two for five Friday in double-A and triple-A games batting left-handed, and and was one for four Saturday.
Morales is now 28 years old. In 2010, his first full season with the Angels, Morales hit .306 with 34 home runs and 108 RBI. The following year, Morales was hitting .290 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI in 51 games before injuring his ankle.
