49ers sign competition for Alex Smith
After the media spectacle that was the 49ers attempt to sign Peyton Manning and ditch the quarterback that led the team to the post season last year (who also looked into taking his talents to South Beach), the team resigned Alex Smith and has now signed some competition for him.
The team announced on Thursday that they had signed former Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Johnson to a two-year deal. 49ers G.M. Trent Baalke had this to say:
“Josh is a promising young player that has experience in our offensive system. He is a skilled athlete with good arm talent…We are pleased to add him to our team.”
San Francisco did resign Smith, but it was not to the type of contract that would make benching him should he not play up to par an absolute impossibility (improbable maybe; not impossible).
Throw former Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick into the mix and a possible quarterback controversy could be in the making.

Rumor has it that when was Travis was born in the great state of Texas that they put a football in his hands and he hiked it to his older brother. The love affair with sports continued to blossom from there into basketball (Go Mavs!), baseball, rugby, wrestling, golf--pretty much if it can be called a competition he will watch it!
